Directory Submission Strategy Basics for Search Engine Optimisation

Directory Submission Strategy Basics for Search Engine Optimisation

Directory submission is not an afterthought. Submitting your website to reputable and relevant directories will provide your website with links, looks and leads if you take the time to develop an effective directory submission strategy. Directory submission strategies are developed during the process of search engine optimisation and search engine marketing. Directories provide links, looks and leads. The link to your website that is submitted to the directory for submission builds up your back links which builds up your search engine reputation. Search engines also look for directory submissions when evaluating websites for their search engine results page. The original purpose of online directories was to provide a valuable link for users to follow when researching information. Providing a link to your website for this native purpose can provide you with valuable leads for future customers. There are thousands of directories. Many are beneficial to your website, however just as many can be detrimental to your website. The process of directory submission also provides an avenue for locating websites that have content related to yours, providing a valuable resource for link building and competitor analysis. Developing a directory submission strategy requires determining the most advantageous methods for search engine results and search engine marketing, as well as a cost and return analysis of your search engine budgeting. Unfortunately, it’s not a simple task to put a monetary value on link building, search engine exposure and customer leads since there are so many variables, both tangible and intangible. A directory may charge a fee for your submission, or it may charge a recurring fee. There are many directories that do not charge for submission, however close scrutiny to the directory’s reputation is imperative to avoid being penalized by the major search engines. Budget decisions must be taken into consideration when developing your directory submission strategy. Registering your directory with the primary and most reputable directories is beneficial to search engine results, although this may get costly depending on which directories you choose to submit to. Knowing your target market and having a well-developed customer profile can help you hone in on the directories that are most likely to give your website visibility and reach the customers that are most like to buy your product or service – or complete your call to action. Thus, you will be spending less money, but reaching customers that are most likely to commit, making the directory submission process more efficient. Directory submissions are not limited to search engine directories. Directories range from industry directories, academic directories, phone directories, business directories, government directories, resource directories, medical directories, and of course, restaurant directories, travel directories, and regional directories. Finding the directories most suitable for your niche and directory submission strategy will strengthen your search engine reputation as well as your website visibility to visitors most likely to be attracted to your website. A Directory submission strategy is not the most important aspect of search engine optimisation or search engine marketing, but it should not be neglected if you are seeking to optimize every avenue of opportunity for search engine recognition and website visibility. A directory submission will bring you links to increase your page rank, looks to increase the probability of being included in search engine results, increased traffic, leads for new customers, link building and competitive analysis. Don’t underestimate the value of developing a directory submission strategy, or your website will be underestimated in search engine results – and overlooked by potentially valuable visitors. Submit your URL to directories to surpass your competitors that aren’t using directory submission – and your website visitors will be submitting to you.

“Yahoo Search Marketing” question.?

Question by meadbd: “Yahoo Search Marketing” question.?
Thank you very much for sending the email, SMART START SERIES.
It is very helpful and I look forward to the emails that follow. This
will give me a better idea of the Yahoo Search Marketing system. I
see I need to make some changes already.

Following is a print of my 4 campaigns.
I don’t understand the “Avg. CPC ($)” column.
Where did the values of .99 and .48 come from?
Is there any way I can lower these figures?
Can’t I insert a bid value?

Obviously, there are things about this proceedure that I don’t understand.
Please give me a hand here.

Here it is>
Daily spending limit: Maximum amount of money that you will like to spend on this particular campaign (eg : Car Auction). When the daily limit is reached campaign will become inactive and you will not incure further charges.

Impressions: Number of times the add is served (shown on yahoo search)

CTR(%): click through rate, this is the ratio of number of impressions / number of clicks.

Avg. CPC: This is cost per click, average amount that is charged per click. Average amount is decided by many different factors with in yahoo’s engine.

Cost: total cost that you have incurred for this particular campaign (over number of days or month)

You cannot lower the CPC, this depends on many factors, but what you can do is reduce the amount (bid) that you will like to spend on individual keywords. This way you will see less impressions and overall you will be charged less (implies less customers too). Decreasing your bid value too much may mean no impressions and clicks

Yes, you can insert a bid value for each individual keyword that you enter.

[International affiliate programs] cannot compare to the international (ACME People Search)

default [International affiliate programs] cannot compare to the international (ACME People Search)

www.incomecashflow.info Since I joined ACME People Search in July of 2009 I was amazed at the international flavor that was present in this program. I have met people from the Philipines, India and the United Kingdom. There are not any international affiliate programs out there that can compare with this. I have totally fallen in love with the ACME People Search forum. I spend a lot of time there helping people succeed with the APS program. The forum is like a big family of people from all over the world. Other international affiliate programs are having a hard time functioning while APS is thriving. The amazing thing about this program is people helping people to succeed. You get a lot more than monetary rewards from APS you feel fulfilled as a person and a human being. There are no international affiliate programs anywhere that do that. Programs have come and gone but I believe ACME People Search is here to stay for a long time. The design and structure of this program is pure genius and to participate in it is fun. Tissa Godavitarne is the mastermind behind APS and has been involved in Internet Marketing for nearly 10 years. Tissa has webinars 3 times a week and goes over the program and even talks to people and answers questions. Other international affiliate programs can only pretend to do such things. ACME People Search is the real thing and is putting the other international affiliate programs to shame. Are you looking to make a little more money on the side or at

I need a concise definition for “search directories” and another for “search engines”?

Question by bloom: I need a concise definition for “search directories” and another for “search engines”?

Directories are human edited lists of Internet resources, arranged hierarchically. Directories are meant to be browsed, but they can also be searched.

Examples of well known directories are the Open Directory Project (DMOZ) http://dmoz.org/ and Google’s directory http://www.google.com/dirhp

Google’s directory is unusual in that it is not human edited but that is because it is a copy of DMOZ.

Search engines spider the web (following links) and visit every website they can find. They then rank them for whatever keywords you search on, hoping to provide the most relevant at the top (first). The ranking process uses a proprietary algorithm which is why the search results are different for each search engine.

Hope that helps.
