This may be different from version to version. I am using the beta version, and I do have an Import under File.

Audacity has a way to have multiple tracks for different instruments, vocals, etc. This is most likely what your teacher is using. I would ask them to explain how they are using Audacity to do this and I am sure they will be happy to show you.

Im sorry, The tutorial was fine. it just didnt turn out the way i wanted it to. so i got pissed. sorry about the comment ://

Sorry it didn’t help. I have never claimed to be an expert with Audacity, just trying to answer the questions as they come in. If you need more expert help, you should contact the Audacity people and ask the ones who wrote the program, not just someone who does a short tutorial on how to use a portion of the program.

I would suggest looking in your Sounds section of Control Panel and see if you can turn off the other mic there. If you have two mics connected, there should be a way to control these from the Control Panel.

In order to record from your PC sounds, you will need to activate the Stereo Mix option in your soundcard (if it has one). Not all computers have this option, otherwise you need to use something like Virtual Audio Cable to accomplish this.

You must install the LAME Encoder in order to be able to encode MP3 files. You can find this as a free download on the same site that you downloaded Audacity from.

  22. Jack1685 says:
